Hopefully this message finds everyone well.  I know we are all growing weary of social distancing and being apart from friends and family, but we are still focused on safety.

A few important points:

– The governor just announced that we will not be allowed to resume in-person learning for the rest of the year. The administrative team has been hard at work preparing for this potential scenario. We will obviously announce some changes for the remainder of our time in the coming days, including grading.

– Our district has been a leader in the Whole Child Initiative.  This has been done in cooperation with the Montgomery County ESC.  The recently released this newsletter focused on SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) to assist parents/teachers/students with how to take care of themselves during this trying time.  I would encourage everyone to give it a look:  https://mailchi.mp/75574246e33b/mcesc-sel-newsletter?fbclid=IwAR16yXAJ7htBtjh7LS4usSvWsqdLF4JKK8SWhfx3J5J0b8PHGt9J139knac

– The March 17th election will conclude via absentee ballots next Tuesday.  People who still wish to vote in the election should request their absentee ballots now in order to have them counted.  Absentee ballot requests can be picked up at a number of locations in our district or downloaded from the board of elections website.  You can access the Montgomery County Board of Elections by following this link: https://www.montgomery.boe.ohio.gov/absentee-voting/

-Kindergarten Registration is still happening. If you know of someone who needs to register their kindergarten student, please have them go to our webpage and go to: http://valleyview.k12.oh.us/about-us/registration/ .  We are working to determine how screening and meetings will take place.

As I look out the window, I see the sun shining. I trust that the sun will shine on all of our students today and the days to come.

Proud to be your Superintendent,
Ben Richards
